TabDaddy needs your receipt, the names you type and the amounts. It does not need much else and it does not keep much else. We never sell your information, and we never sell or share mobile numbers.

The short version

TabDaddy helps you split a receipt and ask your friends for the money back. To do that it needs the receipt, the names you type, and the amounts. It does not need much else, and it does not keep much else.

We do not sell your information. We do not sell or share mobile phone numbers with anyone for marketing or promotional purposes, and we never share them with third parties for their own use.

What we collect

Only what the product needs to work:

  • Your email address, if you create an account. Accounts are handled by Clerk; you can use TabDaddy without one.
  • Your Venmo username, if you provide it. This is what goes into the payment links you send, so your friends pay you and not somebody else.
  • The receipt photo you upload, while it is being read. See "Receipt photos" below.
  • The names, amounts and — only if you type them — phone numbers of the people who owe you. You enter these yourself; we never read your contacts.
  • Basic technical information: a device cookie so the app remembers you without an account, and a one-way salted hash of your IP address used only to limit abuse. We do not store your IP address itself.

Receipt photos

Your receipt photo is sent to be read, the line items are extracted, and the photo is then discarded. We do not keep it.

The single exception is if you explicitly choose to post a receipt publicly to the Wall of Shame. In that case it is stored, and you can delete it at any time.

Artificial intelligence

Reading a receipt and writing a message both use AI, and that means your data is sent to the companies that provide it:

  • Anthropic receives the receipt photo in order to extract the line items.
  • DeepSeek receives the first name, the amount and the item names in order to write the message. It does not receive your email, your phone number, or the receipt photo.

Text messages

When you send a friend a payment request, TabDaddy writes the message and hands it to your own phone. You press send. The message comes from your number, through your carrier, exactly as if you had typed it. TabDaddy does not send it for you and never sends anything on your behalf without you pressing send.

If you give us your mobile number, we may send you service messages such as a reply to a support request or a notice about your account. Message frequency varies and depends on your activity; most people receive no more than a few messages a month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help.

We do not sell or share mobile phone numbers with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers you enter for the people who owe you are used only to open your own messaging app with the message pre-filled.

If you joined by scanning a QR code

Some people gave us their mobile number by scanning a TabDaddy QR code and signing up — at a campus event, on a flyer, or on a table card. If that was you, you opted in to hear from us, and that includes occasional commercial and promotional messages about TabDaddy: new features, offers, and reasons to come back.

Message frequency varies and depends on what we have to say; expect a handful of messages a month at most. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time and HELP for help. Opting out of marketing messages does not affect your account or your ability to use TabDaddy.

We do not sell or share those mobile numbers with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. They are used by TabDaddy to message you, and for nothing else.

Payments

TabDaddy never holds, routes or touches the money your friends owe you. The payment link opens Venmo, and the payment happens between you and them inside Venmo. We cannot see whether it went through — when the app shows a debt as paid, that is because somebody marked it so, not because we observed it.

If you buy scan credits on the website, the payment is processed by Stripe; if you buy credits or subscribe to Unlimited in the iPhone app, it is processed by Apple. Your card details go to Stripe or Apple and never to us; we store only a customer reference, how many credits you have, and when an Unlimited plan ends.

TabDaddy is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Venmo or PayPal.

Who else sees your data

Only the services required to run the product, each doing one job:

  • Clerk — accounts and sign-in
  • Supabase — the database where receipts, debts and credits are stored
  • Stripe and Apple — payments
  • Anthropic and DeepSeek — reading receipts and writing messages
  • Resend — sending support email
  • Netlify — hosting
  • We do not sell your data to anyone, and we do not share it for advertising.

How long we keep things

Receipt photos are discarded as soon as they have been read, unless you posted one publicly. Your receipts, debts and credit balance are kept while your account exists so your history stays available. Rate-limiting records are kept for a day.

Email hello@estia.house and we will delete your account and everything attached to it.

Your choices

You can use TabDaddy without an account. You can remove your Venmo username at any time. You can delete any debt you created. You can ask us to delete everything.

If a message TabDaddy generated about you is unfair or you want it taken down, write to us and we will deal with it.

Children

TabDaddy is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and we will say so in the app.
